I’m a Licensed Registered Social Worker who graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and from the University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work Degree. I have specialized in Mental Health and Health.
I have a range of experience working in the field of mental health and addictions. I have worked with diverse individuals and couples who experience various issues including, anxiety, depression, addictions, relationship problems, relationship abuse, self-esteem, stress management, anger management, grief and loss, communication, interpersonal relationships conflict, and life transitions.
I work from a strengths based perspective that considers all area’s of an individual’s life; I believe wellness and recovery are possible for all. I recognize that attending counselling takes strength and courage, and as a result, I strive to build positive, safe, and respectful therapeutic relationships with clients.
I use effective evidenced based treatment approaches that meet the individual’s needs and help them with achieving their therapeutic goals. My primary practice modalities include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Gottman Method. I believe practice and persistence are important to individual progress, and as a result, provide tools and resources that can be used outside of session.
