I have worked for over 30 years helping people navigate the complexities of mental health and wellness, and repair and recover broken relationships. I have a Master of Social Work degree and am registered with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers. I am also an associate member of the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and an EMDR Therapist with membership in EMDR Canada. Over the years I have helped many individuals, families and couples change the things that prevent them from living the life they want to live.
With specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couples (EFT) Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, and Affairs, I am passionate about helping couples have relationships that are built on trust and commitment where both partners feel valued, understood and respected.
I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy and I am pleased to be amongst a select group of therapists in Newfoundland and Labrador who provide this specialized therapy. EMDR is currently recognized as the best treatment for trauma related conditions that enables the brain to heal from past traumas and find perfect peace.
Fundamentally when I work with individuals, couples and families I want them to feel understood and hopeful that their situation will improve. I believe in a holistic, strengths based, non-judgemental model for working with people. I want to honour the beliefs and values of the people that I work with and help them live a life that brings them peace and joy.
